POST 13 - Sound in 13 Reasons Why

SOUND STUDY

This is the original scene from the series, this allowed us to study each aspect, as we had watched it multiple times to get the timings, sound effects and the narrative in time. When we first watched it we listened to the sounds, and then the second time we chose to record the timings, for example when the narrator (Hannah Baker played by Katherine Langford) would stop and start speaking we would note down. This made it easier when editing the final outcome as we already had an understanding of the timings within the scene.

Diegetic and Non - Diegetic Sound.

Diegetic sound is any sound presented as originated from source within the film's world. Diegetic sound can be either on screen or off screen depending on whatever its source is within the frame or outside the frame. Non-diegetic sound is represented as coming from the a source outside story space.

This video explains diegetic and non-diegetic sounds within film...

This image shows how our group timed the sound within the small clip..

HERE IS OUR FINAL OUTCOME:

Overall, I think our final outcome had been successful, as the timing had been close to accurate. However, the only thing we would have changed is where we recorded the narration, as the room had made the dialogue full of echo sound, we chose to record the sound in that room as it had been silent and empty, therefore it had been successful in not having any background noise, which had been important for a narration.
